“Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose…”
With a background in wellness, we at Vegan Skin Clinic recognize that nowadays the consumer revolution goes beyond just looking for organic or natural topical skincare products: looking good, feeling good and even "doing good" is all part of today’s beauty aesthetic.
Consumers, now more than ever, are embracing products that are ethically sourced, without hurting anyone (animal or human) in the process, and that are natural without being boring or ineffectual. Wellness encompasses the way you move, the way you think and the way you choose what to introduce into your body, from food to beauty products.
Whether you’re looking to clean up your beauty routine, or are generally interested in the holistic benefits of the complete vegan lifestyle, this blog will break down the three main factors we at Vegan Skin Clinic have prioritized in our respective vegan journeys.
The treatment and ultimate death of animals is one of our three reasons for leading vegan lifestyles. The reasoning being pretty obvious-- animals have to die in order to end up on that fancy Michelin star plate or in the aisle of your local supermarket.
Despite labels of organic, free-range, etc.-- the animals still will face a distressing and often painful death. The conditions many animals face, especially in large slaughterhouses, is deplorable and heartbreaking. With much research and an incredible amount of resources on how to thrive with a vegan diet, it’s simply a no-brainer for us to adjust lifestyles for the sake of these animals.
Simply put, we love animals and don’t want our lifestyle choices to impact negatively on any animal’s well-being.
The research on diet and the impact on our environment is pretty jarring (and completely non-negotiable). It’s devastating how overlooked these statistics are, and we believe if more people were informed we’d see a significant shift in the discussion.
Whether you’re a meat eater, pescatarian, vegetarian, or vegan-- as humans we should all value and protect the earth as our homes. For example, did you know that livestock farming generates more greenhouse gas emissions worldwide than all cars, trains, boats and planes added together?
It truly is mind-boggling to understand how any rational person can deny the negative impacts industrial farming has on our environment. From the percentage of nitrous oxide polluting the US coming directly from meat agriculture (75%!!), to 173,000 miles of rivers and streams being poisoned by toxic chemicals from factory farms-- the list of detriments goes on and on.
Lastly, we value the health benefits of leading a vegan lifestyle. As a vegan beauty company, it’s our mission to inform and educate others of the multitude of benefits one can see with this lifestyle change.
Speaking for ourselves, our bodies feel a million times better on a vegan diet/beauty routine; our hair, skin and nails are healthier, immune systems stronger, digestive systems better, and energy levels much higher.
When it comes to potency and effectiveness, vegan beauty superfoods and products pack a mighty punch and should not be overlooked.
From nature’s own cellular stimulant of Chia Seed, to Lemon Fruit Extract, Kukui Nut Volcanic Ash and more-- the natural vegan remedies are abundant, effective, and non-harmful to any/all living beings.
We are hopeful that this information has at least sparked a curiosity and leaves you with a hunger to learn more about the vegan lifestyle. Trust us when we say, there are many more reasons one may value more when the decision to switch, these three are simply our top factors.
Living a cleaner life isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it… and if skincare happens to be your first step to actively transitioning: we are honored and grateful.
